The first steps to your new home



Applying for your Euro mortgage is similar to applying for a Sterling mortgage in the UK. You'll need to complete an application form and either take it into a branch in Spain, or send it along with the items listed on the mortgage checklist.
Once we have your completed application, we'll assess the information you've provided to make sure we have everything we need. Your relationship manager will keep you updated on where your application is in the process, and will let you know if we need anything more from you.
Generally if we have everything we need to make an initial assessment, we will contact you so that we can arrange for a surveyor to inspect the property.
We will open a local bank account as part of the mortgage process to ensure that the direct debit payments are set up so that your mortgage payments can be made. Find out about opening a local account.



Your mortgage offer



On receipt of a satisfactory valuation we will undertake a final review. Once the mortgage is agreed a Mortgage Offer will be made. This, together with the valuation report will be value for 6 months from the date of issue. Please note that the interest rate quoted at the offer stage is a guide only and the final rate agreed with will be subject to 12 months EURIBOR quoted on the day of completion.



Buildings and contents insurance



You must insure your new home against damage, and the start of your policy must coincide with the completion of your mortgage.
It is not obligatory to take insurance with Barclays - we have negotiated top rates with a selected group of insurance firms so you can benefit from our purchasing power and preferable rates.



The final stage



Once you have agreed the Mortgage Offer, we'll ensure that your current account and has been arranged and a completion date will be set once all the legal requirements have been completed.



Are you an existing Barclays Customer?



If you're a new customer to Barclays Spain, and already have a Barclays account elsewhere, we'll knock 0.25% off our mortgage arrangement fee. All you need to do is show us an original copy of your bank statement.
Please let us know at the time of requesting the mortgage because we can't apply this discount once the mortgage has been drawn down. All of our arrangement fees are deducted from your loan on completion of your mortgage.
